Explanations:
The capital of Uttar Pradesh is Lucknow. This is a fundamental piece of geographical and administrative knowledge about the state. Lucknow is not only the capital but also the largest city in Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the central part of the state and serves as the seat of the state government, including the state legislative assembly and the high court. The city is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and its role as a major commercial and industrial center in the region.
Lucknow has a long and storied history, dating back to the 18th century when it was the capital of the Nawabs of Awadh. The city is renowned for its architecture, including the Bara Imambara and the Chota Imambara, as well as its cuisine, which is a blend of Mughlai and Awadhi styles. It is important to note that while Varanasi is a major city in Uttar Pradesh and is known for its religious and cultural significance, it is not the capital. Varanasi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus, but it does not serve as the administrative or political center of the state.
