Explanations:The tallest waterfall in India is the Thoseghar waterfall, which is located in the state of Maharashtra. This waterfall is a significant geographical feature and is situated in the Western Ghats, a mountain range that runs along the western edge of the Indian peninsula. The Western Ghats are known for their rich biodiversity and numerous waterfalls, with Thoseghar being the highest among them.
Thoseghar waterfall is located in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. The waterfall is formed by the Kajali River, which cascades down from a height of approximately 253 meters (830 feet). This makes it the tallest waterfall in India, surpassing other notable waterfalls such as Jog Falls in Karnataka and Dudhsagar Falls in Goa.
Understanding the geographical distribution of natural landmarks like waterfalls is important for students preparing for competitive examinations, as questions related to such geographical features are common. Maharashtra, being a state with diverse geographical features, including coastal areas, hilly regions, and the Western Ghats, is home to several significant waterfalls, with Thoseghar being the most prominent.
It is essential to note that while Maharashtra is home to the tallest waterfall in India, other states also have notable waterfalls.
