Explanations:The question asks about the top active international goal scorers in football. To understand this, it is important to distinguish between club goals and international goals. Club goals are those scored in domestic and international club competitions, while international goals are those scored in matches for a national team.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese footballer, is widely recognized as the top active international goal scorer. His consistent performance and goal-scoring ability in international matches have made him a standout player in this category. As of the latest records, Ronaldo has scored over 120 goals for Portugal, which is a significant achievement in the context of international football.
Sunil Chhetri, an Indian footballer, is the second highest active international goal scorer. He has been a prolific goal scorer for the Indian national team, contributing significantly to the team's success in various tournaments. However, his goal-scoring record is still lower than that of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Other players like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Karim Benzema are also highly skilled and have impressive goal-scoring records, but they do not rank as the top active international goal scorers. Messi, for instance, is more renowned for his club goals with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, while Neymar and Benzema have not achieved the same level of international goal-scoring success as Ronaldo.
It is important to note that the context of the question is specifically about active international goal scorers. This means that retired players, regardless of their past achievements, are not considered in this ranking. The focus is on the current active players who are still contributing to their national teams.
Understanding the distinction between club and international goals is crucial in this context. While club goals are significant, international goals are often seen as a measure of a player's ability to perform at the highest level of national competition. This is why Ronaldo's international goal-scoring record is particularly impressive and why he is considered the top active international goal scorer.
