Explanations:Ima Keithel is a unique all-women's market located in the heart of Imphal, which is the capital city of Manipur. This market is a significant cultural landmark and reflects the strong matriarchal traditions of the region. The term "Ima Keithel" translates to "Mother's Market" in the local language, emphasizing the role of women in the local economy and society.
Understanding the geographical and cultural significance of such landmarks is crucial for students studying Indian geography and culture. Imphal, being the capital of Manipur, is a city rich in history and cultural heritage. The presence of Ima Keithel in Imphal highlights the unique social structure and economic practices of the region.
Ima Keithel is not just a market but also a symbol of women's empowerment and economic independence. It has been in operation for over 500 years and is one of the largest all-women's markets in Asia. The market is managed entirely by women, who sell a variety of goods ranging from fresh produce to handcrafted items. This market is a testament to the strong matriarchal traditions of the Meitei people, who are the predominant ethnic group in Manipur.
It is important to note that Imphal is the capital of Manipur, and not of any other state in India. The other options provided in the question—Karnataka, Gujarat, and Kerala—are all different states with their own capitals and cultural landmarks. Karnataka's capital is Bangalore, Gujarat's capital is Gandhinagar, and Kerala's capital is Thiruvananthapuram. None of these states have an all-women's market like Ima Keithel.
Therefore, the correct answer is Manipur, as Imphal is the capital of Manipur and the location of the unique all-women's market, Ima Keithel.
